Pros

I enjoy the very flexible work environment, I work from home most days helping bring on and take care of clients. You choose who you work with and how you work with them.

Cons

Benefits are dependent on sales goals, hard to get started in the career (worth it if you make it), your income is based on clients and sometimes that is hard in the beginning.

Pros

The barrier to entry for this role is low (but extremely difficult to stay in/make a decent living in) Sales training Conferences Fairly broad choice of career paths

Cons

Managers recruit oblivious college students with misleading information about the position. No salary (or miniscule, temporary salary w/ reduced commissions). Impossible to be a fiduciary and work here. Sure, you can do what's best for the client, but if you're not selling enough Equitable products then you'll either starve and/or get forced out by management. 'Boiler room' culture. The corporate headquarters staff/execs are unorganized and greedy.
