      Just not for me

      Pros

      Compensation, compensation, compensation, awesome people and benefits, paid vacations (have to earn them) and did I mention compensation! I had a lot of fun working there.

      Cons

      The pro is also the con. It's 100% comission. So you'd better have some connections that trust you or be a phone hustler. In other words if you don't know people that have money and would be willing to invest with you, be prepaired to do a lot..... a lot of cold calling.

      Pros

      The RBG provides an opportunity to get into advising without having a large natural market. Access to proprietary and other products is good.

      Cons

      Much of the training revolves around selling activities while product specific and general advisor training is not stressed. Dedicated market can mean a limited market.

      Good place to learn the basics before moving on

      Pros

      Great training program from the San Diego branch. This could be largely a function of the management at that particular location as I noticed that many other consultants from throughout the country were much less educated and savy when conversing with them at conventions and training functions. Good suite of products to offer.

      Cons

      The neccesity to sell a minimum amount of proprietary products in order to "validate", have your expenses covered, made it difficult to offer truly unbiased recommendations all the time. However, this is the case at most if not all large insurance/investment outfits.
