Pros

Regularly scheduled Sundays & Mondays off.

Cons

Micromanagement, inundated with the workload of more than 1 person, treated as a number not a human being, culture doesn't coincidence with values, they are more concerned about numbers & survey results. Management lacks leadership skills and when you try to get ahead of an issue or be solution oriented you're met with a tone deaf attitude/response.

We’re sorry to hear you describe your experience in such a negative light; what you’ve described certainly does not align with Equity Residential’s culture. Pros

Great Onboarding Process Provide Great Benefits and 401K/Stock options Provide great discounts on housing (great option if you live in LA market from experience)

Cons

LA Management is horrible (I really think they would need a spy to audit employees) Equity LA does not promote growth within the Diversity and Inclusion Area. You can always tell by the RM's and VP's (Any area besides LA is like a dream for Diversity) Work Life Balance means Work and Work for low pay to not have enough for Life Balance The amount of work that is given and you do is not worth the headache. My advice, Please do not sacrifice your mental health for a paycheck

Thank you for sharing your perspectives. While we appreciate you highlighting the onboarding process, 401K/stock options, and benefits including the employee rent discount, we want to address your noted cons, as they certainly don’t align with our values and culture. In regards to work life balance, some of the different employee incentives we provide are wellness programs, paid time off, employee assistance programs and other competitive benefits. In terms of Diversity and Inclusion, we continue to elevate the importance of building an inclusive workplace through Listening Sessions, celebrating Heritage months, community events, and book clubs - just to name a few. We encourage individual thoughts and respectful collaboration, and in Los Angeles specifically, our Vice President of Property Management offers a bi-weekly platform where all employees within the portfolio are invited to discuss current events, concerns and ask questions. With that being said, please know that we take allegations like these very seriously. We encourage our employees to speak directly with their managers and/or our Human Resources team, however we also offer resources such as our Call to Action Hotline (by phone 800-231-5699 or online CallToActionHotline.com), as an option to voice concerns anonymously. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

Pros

rental benefits and get to meet cool people when giving tours

Cons

they do not move salary up at all once you are in. I worked with many managers there were all rude and only cared about the bottom line. They said I would be trained to be a community manager never got training. I just felt like a number. I HAVE NEVER WORKED AT A WORSE PLACE. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT APPLY.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you felt this way and hope that you share your feedback with either your manager, HR and/or the Call to Action Hotline during your time with Equity, as what you’ve described doesn’t align with our culture or values. As you know, we have a formal year end review process with the potential for a merit increase to be considered (based on a variety of factors). This review process is primarily tied to the performance of each individual employee, however, with manager/employee check ins occurring throughout the year.
