Pros

*An environment focused on excellence *Great leaders who care and who I have tremendous respect for *Solving problems and protecting our Grid is highly rewarding, you feel a sense of purpose *Competitive compensation but needs improvement with our global economic issues

Cons

*This is part of state government so things move a bit slow *Outdated remote workforce policies causing serious and concerning business disruption and retention issues *Too many politics to navigate effectively. We are told when to deliver before even knowing the requirements or how we are going to get there *Limited opportunities for advancement or a general lack of understanding among staff on how to advance

Good Work Life Balance , No Remote Out-of-State

Pros

Great work life balance and freedom to engage and take initiative as much as you desire. It is great place to engage and expand your work experience.

Cons

No out-of-state (Texas) remote work options. Prior to the pandemic, working remote was frowned upon and HR insisted the staff work in Taylor, TX which is a long and expensive commute from Austin. There is nothing great about working in Taylor other than parking availability. HR isn't friendly about promoting within. If you get another job within the company, don't expect a pay increase. It is better the leave the company and come back at a higher salary which isn't logical. Overall, the company is great but isn't very flexible and not keeping up with modern work practices for us in the younger workforce. The pay is average, not great compared to modern tech companies and there are no bonuses or equity due to the not for profit nature.

1 . Bureaucracy and compliance team drives all decisions causing every decision to take 10 times longer than it should. 2. Still utilizing waterfall project management for all work.
