Pros

Great company culture and environment. Fantastic benefits and pay. Work was engaging and management did a great job making new employees feel welcome.

Cons

Austin office is a bit segregated from the main office, felt slightly isolated from other employees. No real cons besides that.

Pros

Many talented (mostly engineering and I/T) members - allows for idea sharing discussion, etc.

Cons

Limited growth opportunities (small company). Remote location - no much goes on out there. Cops that catch you speeding along the texas hwy 79 there.

Great place to work with notable exceptions

Pros

New CEO is awesome. Lots of very smart people. The work matters to people of the state of Texas. Effort made to make employees feel comfortable and engaged. Some excellent managers who mentor employees and communicate well. Benefits were great. Campuses are nice and well kept. All in all, a great place to work.

Cons

Taylor location far enough away from Austin to be a recruitment issue in some positions, and Taylor labor pool inadequate to fill some support positions. Despite many good managers, there are some walking nightmares and if you happen to be hired as a direct report to one of them, you're screwed. Some of these very bad bosses nevertheless are awesome at blood sport politics and no one is going to challenge them or hold them accountable for anything. Luckily this represents a small percentage of ERCOT's leadership. But if you land in a bad boss's department, you'd better learn how to play their game quick and, by all means, keep your mouth shut. Otherwise payback is hell.
