Pros

The benefits, stability, and the pay. Very safety and family oriented company, especially being one of the largest LTL Carriers in the industry. If you're an OTR (Over-the-road) truck driver, Estes Express has many different weekly schedules for both local and OTR truck drivers. From personal experience, I started as an OTR extra-board truck driver over ten years ago, and now am a terminal supervisor. So career opportunities are definitely there.

Cons

Depending on which terminal you work out of, and it's geographical location, will decide what opportunities you have and how often. Most bid routes are re- bid every year. Seniority matters. Not so good for the newly hired, obviously.

Pros

Stable company bettebehind closedr than average pay.

Cons

Lack of concern by upper management, poor maintinance on trucks and too much of a buddy system in dispatch. Terminals hide loads for local drivers and hold out of town drivers at hotel up to 30 hours.

Pros

Profitable, very low debt, overall strong financially in an industry that yields very low margins. Excellent money management at corporate level. Not afraid to spend money on equipment. Generally good employee relations. If your a good driver you'll have a job for life.

Cons

Pay scales not adjusted to regions or competitive with industry. 2 sick days a year. Advancement limited Advancement from within almost non existent. Local managers are the most expendable, no security. District management in certain regions poor. District management not held accountable for poor descion making or unethical behavior. Hard work, long hours and being a comitted company person mean absolutely nothing to district management.
