Pros

Responsive (and accessible) management and engineering teams. Great safety culture. Smaller part of larger Siemens and Wood Group businesses. Great travel opportunities. Cool people. Believe in effective processes and stick with what works. Learned a lot about the power generation industry, and how it works best… and how it doesn’t.

Cons

Often felt under the thumb of the leadership group in Europe. Stressful and demanding office environments. Extremely high-paced and will run you thin (and not in the way most of us would like). Management is not afraid to let you go without suspect or notice. VERY tight pockets. Male-dominated industry. Smaller part of larger Siemens and Wood Group businesses (intentionally put in both + and – categories).

Pros

You’re given lots of responsibility and see tangible results Great cross functional learning opportunities and training Plenty of opportunities to lead teams, projects, or initiatives Lots of transparency and opportunities to interact with upper management

Cons

Operate as a large company yet with benefits of a small company Limited mobility in engineering roles Poor communication among the business units leads to inefficiencies No HR training on diversity, emphasis of involvement in the local community, no minority awareness groups, and limited involvement in professional societies besides recruiting.
