Good people with an industry niche

Pros

As an aftermarket parts & services company they are more creative and flexible in some ways with their business approach than an OEM, by necessity. Superior engineering and detailed product understanding vs. some of their more repairs/outages only type of competitors. Good people that are easy to work with.

Cons

The supposed strengths of being a JV ("best of both worlds") doesn't really show up much on the ground. Their successes feel more in spite of being a JV than because of it. The whole gas turbine industry is going through a lot of changes in the current and last couple of years, and leadership seems unsure of the best strategy moving forward. New C-level leadership coming in for 2020 offers hope that Ethos can hone in on a defined mission and plan. I would probably rate higher if the business, industry and world at large (COVID-19, politics, economy) felt more stable, and (full disclosure) if the new business strategy didn't impact me personally in a negative way.
