The top tiers do not have any understanding of the workers job duties causing miscommunication, misunderstanding, and ultimately a lack of trust. Difficult to impossible to achieve promotions or forward career movement.

Raises are generally pretty flat year to year. It's technically merit based, but the max you can usually expect is about a 3% raise, regardless of what you did that year, and no bonus. Although I did get a raise during a time when I had friends at other companies getting laid off, so credit where credit is due. Management could be better about hiring, as the team can get stretched pretty thin during a large project.
