Pros

After reading some of the other reviews, I felt the need to share my opinion. I worked for Lab Support/Apex Life Science for 5 years. I started off as a Recruiter and moved into an Account Manager role after 2 years. There is a lot of opportunity for personal and professional growth but that is within the position you get hired for. Not too many companies in staffing offer an opportunity to start off in sales right away. They have a fast start program that after 10 weeks, you are able to start selling right away. Most of the offices have an untapped market that offers lots of ability to gain clients and earn commission. The base salary is pretty low but they offer great commission percentages and quarterly bonuses. It's one of the few staffing companies that you can earn six figures within your first two years of being there.

Cons

The company started hiring a lot of inexperienced new grads who feel entitled to come in with a book of business and start earning commission right away. This has led to a higher turnover rate in the last two years. Also, the company is trying to grow too fast and doesn't invest a lot of resources into training and development. It's a sink or swim environment. There is a lot of micromanagement from several different leaders across the company. You will be working closely with National Account Managers who will stay on top of positions within your market to ensure the positions get filled. You will most likely start with 25-30 prospects in your area that you will have to work a sales cycle to develop and gain clients. If you don't have a strong work ethic or commitment to sales, you will most likely fail. There isn't much support at local offices for new employees unless you work with a Branch Leader or a member of the leadership team. The KPIs are higher than most staffing companies, you will be expected to go on a lot of meetings and make a lot of phone calls. There isn't a lot of opportunity for career growth, you will most likely be a Recruiter or Account Manager for the foreseeable future. There isn't much opportunity to move into a leadership or management positions.

The worst public company I've ever seen

Pros

Apparently this was Lap Support and I guess due to the bad reviews and reputation on that brand, they now changed to be part of Apex since other Apex division has better reputation. Still, I just want to follow and share the same review I had for Lap Support. Nice work environment, unlimited coffee, updated phone and headset.

Cons

New team in the West Coast, immature management and poor communication. The team lead has no management experience, newly promoted internally and was transferred to this division. They expect you to pickup and work fast but no clear communication or feedback on your performance. High turnover rate within the company. The management only look at the metrics no matter how many calls you make or how hard you work. If you don't reach what they want on the report, without communication they will let you go. If you are fresh out of college have a lot of energy or just want to try recruitment good luck. It is high pressure and the pay is not great compared to the work you need to do.
