Identity crisis

Business Outlook

Pros

Benefits, culturally diverse, flexibility, lots of career options internally

Cons

An identity crisis having to do with straddling the space between business and higher education. Too many projects and initiatives; not enough resources to carry it out.

Excelsior College - Great mission and interesting work

Pros

Visionary president, John Ebersole - he's always pushing for interesting initiatives and supports thinking outside of the box. The institution is highly mission driven and in terms of educational institutions, it's a pretty progressive place.

Cons

As is the case at a lot of institutions, change is often by consensus, which can slow down initiatives.

A Boot Camp Approach to Education

Business Outlook

Pros

What You See is What You Get - Students are mostly Military. Very Respect-oriented. Schedules are predictable. You can plan your week around tasks pretty well.

Cons

Like a Boot Camp for Teachers. Do it their way or take the highway. Hierarchy is the name of the game. Total Quality Management rules the roost.
