It’s always great to hear from our employees and read their thoughts and comments. Regarding management, we recently launched our Leadership Excellence program with the goal of increasing the competencies and communication skills of our managers. We hope you our employees will see the benefits of this new initiative. We will keep working to make Exeter a great place to work.

Pros

Worked with some cool teammates.

Cons

If you have any degree of talent take it somewhere else. The level of micro tracking and management is on another level. It’s obvious Exeter has zero trust in their outside field sales team. If they could deploy drones to follow their reps in the field they would. Company car is GPS tracked. They use the GeoTab data to track when you leave your house, when you get home, how many visits, duration of visits, and to charge you for personal use of the vehicle. Office days are frowned upon and are limited to 1 per month. They require an average of 7 visits per day regardless of traffic, dealer location, etc. The focus is on how many dealer visits vs building relationships with dealers. How can you build anything on a 5 minute visit because your worried about seeing enough dealers for they day? Monthly review with your manager consists of him looking at the data, as in GeoTab and CRM Entries (SF and GeoTab are linked) and interrogating you on days that had light visits, entries or both. Manager is so distracted with other company projects that he forgets some of those days were already discussed. Very frustrating to have a manager who’s passion and focus is not sales. Zero focus on results as in new dealer enrollments, application count trend, loan volume trend. You have zero autonomy in this role unlike with other finance companies. Pay is low. 100k is a pipe dream with the way they set goals in order to earn bonus.

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to provide it and are sorry you don’t feel you had a positive experience working for Exeter. We know working in the field as the face of the company carries a lot of responsibility. It’s a tough job that requires a mix of building relationships with meeting regulatory requirements with driving superior results. We’ll be sure to share your comments with our leadership team to make sure we do all we can to create an environment for success for our sales team. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Ok pay, paid holidays, decent PTO after a while, ability to earn bonuses.

Cons

Working most holidays. There isn't equal pay between the two centers. Irving, TX pays employees more, eventhough the cost of living is higher in Utah. If you're looking for development you may want to look elsewhere. They're bad about giving a little room to grow and then taking back that room due to others poor judgement instead of coaching those people. One of the managers in the credit department had never worked in the credit department before and that caused a lot of frustration. She spent more time on her phone than paying attention to what was going on in the team and helping them grow. Management should be the ones coaching new employees and ensuring they have have proper training. It's not right to have fellow employees have to coach new employees about their errors. The work load is a lot and it's even more pressure if you perform. They need to focus more on other metrics. Also goals keep increasing, but they aren't promoting at the same rate. If they truly want to grow the business they'll need to make some major changes. It's too much like doing the cha-cha working there. Morale is also low for those who are in it for more than just the paycheck. Also no work life balance. They had some lunch and learn classes however, they weren't at a reasonable time so the closing shift could attend and the topics were pretty basic instead of geared towards development. Having one on one meetings just filled with threats and not hearing that you're doing a great job when you're constantly going above and beyond is annoying. Nobody is on the same page. Toxic work environment.
