Pros

Start with 3 weeks paid vacation. Stock Plan. Paid LinkedIn Learning for whatever you want to do. Mentoring. Nice coworkers. Company paid Public transit card.

Cons

Minimal/ basically no work from home policy despite our most effective year ever was when we worked from home. I'm sorry but 26 days a year maximum is a paltry sum after all the good work we did. You have to wear a suit every day. They recently removed ties, but it's still a bit silly for the Tech department who has no in-person dealings with customers. No industry tech to grow your skills with. Unless the job description mentions something different you will use a low-code system. Below average starting Salary. Not much feedback on work quality, and no ways to personally track your status/chance for a raise. You get a yearly review and that's it unless you ask. Poor communication from Upper management and they don't listen to people. Open door policy is a convenient way to claim you do but if no action is taken then it's just a farce.

Pros

They will keep you employed forever, in exchange for staying in 1955 and actively rejecting any tech advances.

Cons

This is an insanely backwards company. For example it was a FIGHT for female employees to not have to wear pantyhose, even with pants. This was in 2014. Women have exactly ZERO opportunity to advance in any managerial level, which I could clearly see even having no interest in it myself. They still have not ditched the waterfall tech pattern; they love to say they are agile but that just means they lie to the business owners as we are not even VAGUELY agile. Every single person I worked with under 40 quit before I did. If you love working with 20 yr old incredibly poorly written spaghetti code, by all means apply! Because they will never change it; for example, they now have a significant dependency on COBOL...and no devs who know COBOL.

Pros

Great work-life balance, downtown location, friendships amongst mid/lower level employees, job security, healthy stock

Cons

1. Org is absolutely filled with complacent lifetime employees. Seniority is almost entirely based on tenure (pins for years at company, etc.) 2. Very disconnected executive level (interactions are often awkward) 3. Quality of employees is much lower than tech companies in area. Hard to learn unless you push yourself. 4. Poor pay and little flexibility 5. Filled with employees who are attached to a specific solution to a problem
