Working for ExxonMobil may be a good experience but is one of those you never want to have again.

Pros

Good opportunities for advancement if you follow the rules and procedures and log in a lot of face time. Many languages on offer to learn for free. International team exposure. Interesting job and friendly co-workers.

Cons

Management respect for employees is non-existent. Management steals ideas and does not pass on credit. Face time gets promotions, not actual hard work or performance. No 360 feedback and little feedback in general. Poor salary in regards to responsibilities.

The only good reason is the wages which are very good.

Cons

Management will not accept help from anyone at a lower pay grade. They are always correct and never make mistakes. It is amazing that none of management have people skills or any common sense. Anything that goes wrong is your fault, not theirs even though you have warned them of the consequences of their plans. You are not allowed to be ill and your penalized if you are. Exxon Mobil is very proud of their safety record even though people are afraid to report anything for fear of reprisals. Micro managing.
