Pros

My favorite thing about working there was learning from experienced professionals, as well as the high-quality internal and external training opportunities. Very high caliber coworkers.

Cons

The annual review process has gotten progressively worse/brutal. It doesn't help that middle managers generally take their jobs too seriously and toe the company line rather than thinking about how to best leverage flexibility programs that could be of great help to their employees.

Pros

ExxonMobil has historically had an uncanny ability of attracting top-tier talent in the engineering fields. All of my colleagues are top tier, with very few exceptions. Workplace flexibility has significantly improved over the past several years. Compensation has recovered from the lows experienced over COVID. This is particularly true for top ranked employees. The management culture has a very strong emphasis on controls, which results in a very high ethical standard.

Cons

Over the past several years the organization feels like it’s in a constant state of change, which distracts from people focusing on the bottom line. The organization is strongly tilted towards management, with less of a focus on leadership, resulting in change efforts, often being over managed and under inspiring. We are opportunities for employees in “high cost 10“ countries are shrinking. Many white collar jobs from the US, Europe, and Australia, are being exported to India.
