Pros

Exposure to diverse domains: FDM provided me with the opportunity to try working in different domains, which was invaluable in expanding my skillset and identifying my areas of interest. Upskilling and peer support: The company offers excellent upskilling opportunities and a supportive peer network. I feel much more confident in my abilities as a professional thanks to these resources. Supportive HR and Returners program: The HR team and Returners program staff were incredibly supportive throughout my experience. They provided guidance and assistance whenever I needed it.

Cons

Client line manager quality can vary: The quality of client line managers can be inconsistent. Some were excellent, while others lacked the necessary leadership skills. Client unwillingness to hire directly: Many clients are hesitant to hire directly after the initial placement, which can limit long-term opportunities. Project relevance: Some assignments may not be directly relevant to your long-term career goals. Assignment prolongation stress: The 3-month assignment prolongation period can be stressful, especially if you're trying to plan your future. Bonus on assignment only: You don't receive a bonus while on the bench, which is understandable but worth noting. Despite some drawbacks, I would definitely recommend FDM to those who have had a career break and are looking to re-enter the workforce. The company offers a supportive environment, valuable skills development, and the chance to explore different career paths. It was a great stepping stone for me, particularly coming back after having children.
