Pros

nothing really besides free health insurance , which is fair for the 35k in the beginning and after 5 yrs 50k to safe lives, deal with the public who can be rude, be exposed to diseases, other then that looks good on a resume at least.

Cons

Not a brotherhood or sisterhood like the suppression side, union is all about the political side not really on the employees side, you work 12 hrs but you don't recoup 12 hrs of sick or annual leave only 7.5 hrs you get. We got put in 12 hr schedules because nyc was in state of emergency all other agencies went to 12hrs as well, but now that there is no state of emergency implemented they still force us to work 12hrs, no saying, union says its good for contract negotiations which is probably gonna be that excuse for the next 15 yrs.
