Too political

Pros

Has a wonderful mission and there is definitely a need for Fannie Mae

Cons

A lot of work that does not go anywhere Executives spend a lot of time doing things that seem to offer little value Fannie Mae is in an awkward position where they are neither government or a public company, so management tends to do things for political reasons rather than making choices that actually make sense They rarely focus on what is the actual income statement impact which would never happen in a public company. It can be frustrating to work in a place that you feel like you are not making any difference but instead just doing busy work for some political gain of management.

Pros

Fannie Mae has good benefits, the required work day is 7.5 hours which you can enjoy depending on your manager/director, VP and department you are located in.

Cons

Business culture is suffocating, you will overwork (one person doing the work of three), there is poor training for new hires, a lot of bad Managers, Directors and VPs. Too much pressure to reach ridiculous goals, they want employees to be innovative and creative like Amazon, Facebook, Apple, etc,. but management is very square minded. It is a black and white culture, inflexible. There are better departments than others, different cultures even. Business/Finance side is bad.
