The developers were super talented and easy to work with.
Cons
- They will expect you to leap in and make sweeping changes despite not knowing what's wrong - You will be held fully responsible for the success of projects that started before you got there - If you're making a mistake (even one that can result in termination) don't expect them to tell you in detail nor work with you on it. You'll get the axe with no warning - No human expectations (cross country move may mean a person isn't going to be super responsive or crank out work while getting settled in) - No clue how to work with diverse talent (I literally had HR ask me if I wanted my team to have a meeting on how to have conversations. Ummmm no?) This was after a male coworker yelled at me in a meeting. -When I was terminated out of the blue the head of people mentioned I'd been told about a behavior in January this was less than a month after relocating cross country for the role. Problem 1. I was hired in October so maybe some of those issues were tied to me literally being brand new and finding my way. Problem 2. There was no follow up to this so in my mind I'm assuming the issue is fixed since the people closest to my day to day aren't telling me it's still an issue Problem 3. The team had a major project and leadership changes. There was no temp check for the whole team to see what the new dynamic was.
