Pros

Pay is great with a good base and an uncapped commission. You should expect to make 100% of your base in commission within your first 2 years. Generous auto allowance and gas card cover the vast majority of your driving expenses. Other travel and entertainment expenses are not limited as long as they are within reason. Overall I very much enjoyed working here and with the team that I worked with including my direct management and senior management.

Cons

Training was very poor coming from outside the industry. There was a 12 week crash course that every position in the company has to take and that was it. I had a ride along with my boss once and software critical to the role was never provided to me. Management had great plans for growth but they frequently changed and made meeting sales goals difficult. I felt supported but things felt a bit fly by night and it was sometimes difficult to get support.

Pros

Pros: Legacy Culture: Ferguson used to be a place where long-term tenure was valued and technical expertise was a primary asset. Benefits/Stability: Historically provided a stable environment for those looking to build a multi-decade career.

Cons

Bait-and-Switch Roles: Experienced a severe disconnect between the technical role promised by Director-level leadership (cybersecurity and project management) and the administrative "seat-filling" reality. Management Incompetence: Departmental management lacked basic operational literacy, failed to provide standard operating procedures (SOPs), and forced the use of inadequate tools like OneNote for high-stakes enterprise projects. Blocked Internal Mobility: Despite 14 years of service, Senior Leadership intentionally blocked internal transfers back to proven roles, requiring "re-interviews" for positions already mastered. High Departmental Turnover: Witnessed a 50% turnover rate in the department within a 120-day window because leadership prioritized personal "favors" over associate retention. Disregard for Specialized Skills: Even after completing company-aligned certifications like the ATD Consulting Skills Certificate, associates were prohibited from applying those skills or collaborating with technical teams.
