Pros

There is no pros to working in this location. Unless you would like to be treated like dirt!

Cons

I was working in the Springdale, Arkansas location in the showroom selection center. There is no manager there right now so They had a girl who was suppose to be training me. She made it very clear from day one that she was very busy and when she first started was thrown to the wolves and left to figure things out on her own. After a week of 8 hours a day video's I went to the showroom, no desk so I used the corner of another co workers desk. Who was very rude and disrespectful and even told me at one point that I had not done the task correctly. She used profanities that I cannot add to this post. I seriously was blown away by that comment. I was asked to look up all the chandeliers in the showroom so they could tag and price them. I could not find them on Build.com and was given a 2" thick catalog, after I located a few I let My co worker who was in charge know I could not find some of them. That is when she informed me that not all of them are from that manufacturer. That would have been great information to have when trying to identify them. My desk came after 2 weeks and I put it together myself. On at least three different days, My other co worker turned the heater up to 78 degrees in the showroom. I asked if I could turn it down a little because it was so hot and she said I could, only for her to turn it back up 40 minutes later. Mind you she was wearing a tank top, jeans and sandals. I was also told that I would not make commissions for awhile, but I would be helping customers in the showroom and They would get the commission. Really? Maybe They should be nicer to a new employees who would be writing up orders on her behalf. 90% of the time when a customer left the store they talked badly of them. They also would tack on shipping charges to customers they did not like and they laughed about it. The outside sales rep and was pretty nice. Even though they told me he would throw fits yell, I found him to be very pleasant. At one point they would ignore me all day long which was better than being treated so poorly. Once I reported this to management they did apologize, and then sent me to work in a air-conditioning warehouse until they would have a manager on site. So I was punished for their mis-behavior in the work place. Never in my professional career have I ever been treated so poorly by co workers.

Pros

Laid back culture. You really can take it easy most of the time. The company really cares about work life balance. The PTO isn’t great, but they let you be very flexible with when you work that makes up for it. The free Microsoft certifications is very nice aswell.

Cons

The biggest issue with working in security at Ferguson is that they simply don’t care or don’t know how to do security at an org of this size. The leadership is basically purely concerned with clout within the company. Teams that have no business doing something somehow own the entire area. It’s difficult to explain while maintaining anonymity but don’t come to Ferguson to learn best practices. They love to buy a product to fix a symptom of the issue that is leadership has no idea how to implement security across the org. You need to be focused on making up KPIs to succeed here.
