      Awful, antagonistic, clueless management (in Tampa anyway.)

      Pros

      Decent compensation. Decent benefits. Decent locations. Computer system is bettter than at many other banks. Training is pretty good and thorough.

      Cons

      Constant micro-management at every level. Very political. Always play favorites, even when the favorites performance does not warrant it. No work/life balance at all. Very short staffed. Goals change all the time, even in the middle of the month. Reviews are inconsistent. Very hard to work with HR on any disciplinary issues.

      Fifth Third expects far to much out of their employees.

      Pros

      The benefit package is about the only positive thing I can say about Fifth third Bank. There is a lot of room for advancement in retail, because most employees don't last much longer than a year or two.

      Cons

      I worked for the company for over ten years, looking back I have no idea why I stayed as long as I did. The senior management does not care about the employees at all, your simply a number that better produce results consistently. If you do have a sales month that is below your goal you will quickly get "counseled" regardless of the reason for the lack of sales. In Retail you are expected to run your Financial Center "short staffed" with no support from other Financial Centers or Senior Management, and during that time you better hit all of your sales goals or you will again be "counseled" for not doing so.

      Pros

      The Average age is very young, which is a positive for young professionals. The work life balance is also very good, management is generally supportive of employee needs

      Cons

      There aren't a lot of opportunities to make an impact early. The culture is very conservative and tends to be non-confrontational and passive.
