Family owned bank pushing to change

Pros

The people are very nice, the pay is competitive, good 401k match, and your ideas are valued. There is a cafeteria on site in Raleigh and being headquartered in Raleigh means you get to see many different departments.

Cons

The healthcare benefits are expensive, 401k investment options are limited, and the company is going through a cultural shift. Some pockets of the organization are resistant to change and get in their own way. Also, there are no bonuses so be sure to consider this when negotiating salary.

Pros

Management is top notch here. Although my job can be stressful at times, I don't mind because I always feel appreciated. I have never witnessed anything unethical at this Bank. They don't make employees push products on customers and they seem to pay a better salary than competitors to attract higher quality, more experienced employees. Everyone I work with has a lot of experience in Banking. The last Bank I worked for hired very unprofessional, unexperienced people a lot of the time and this was really a turn off to the customers there.

Cons

Some of the technology is outdated and not up to speed with other Banks.

Pros

This bank is very counter cultural compared to other banks. I have been in branch sales here for 1.5 years and I have never been asked to make cold calls, have a call night, or act outside of moral guidelines. This bank does not offer bonuses or commission on sales of deposit or credit products but do pay a slightly higher wage because of it. They do promote from within for driven individuals (I have been promoted twice in my time here).

Cons

Because this bank does not thrive on a competitive atmosphere, you will be bored some days. But honestly it is worth being bored so that the burn out rate is lower.
