Challenging Position

Pros

I was given a chance here to develop and grow at a new level in my career, which I greatly appreciated. Management opportunities within the company are usually more limited, however, and are based strictly on operational needs and budgetary requirements. Operations management has the flexibility and freedom to work from home at times, which is a huge plus.

Cons

Lack of work / life balance. You are expected to be on-call at all times, and there is very little personal time away from your phone. This is what this position entails, but it can still become quite stressful. Compensation is the minimum of what’s acceptable for the job duties and availability this role requires, and bonuses / increases are small. Management is understaffed, and the operations team lacks organizational structure - with lots of responsibilities usually placed onto one or two people within the region.
