Pros

Working with the same people as I did with my previous company and working with the same standards and practices as my previous company, before the hostile takeover.

Cons

FirstEnergy and their "legacy-Ohio-Edison-is-the-best-thing-since-sliced-bread-so-do-what-we-do-because-we-are-too-simple-to-even-think-about-adopting-others'-standards-and-practices" attitude and approach. Cut safety corners and budgets. Zero flexibility. Pile more work on before hiring more people. Waste government money on rediculous amounts of unnecessary contractors because of family ties with that firm, instead of hiring empoyees. They wait until the last minute to spend all their money. They paid less per position than the company they took over so they were upset they didn't get the same salaries. Did I mention they pay below market rate, when you consider their market extends from west most Ohio, to the east coast of New Jersey, and down to the very south of West Virginia, they pretty much set the market rate.

Pros

This company offers a relatively competitive compensation/benefits package compared to others in NE Ohio.

Cons

Management is a group of good ol' boys that never changes. The same people get shifted from one role to another but none of them are held accountable even though the retail portion of the company is failing. Re-orgs and layoffs are the norm roughly every 6 months to a year.

Pros

Pay check to pay the bills. Still have health care. Buildings have a roof, four walls and a floor.

Cons

Raises for majority of employees less than inflation (buying power is decreasing for most), reducing manpower but expecting more from employees, Work-Life Balance a negative (Generation resolved this issue by creating a new "unpaid overtime" time code - Clueless), Great place for a Live to Work person, delta in salaries between Senior/Executive Leadership and the others increasing yearly, no retiree health care, no pension plan, continued reduction in health care benefits, "Ready-Fire-Aim" Management Style by Nuclear/Generation Leadership, respect for employees appears to be declining, Performance Appraisals are really a Populatiry Contest and no longer linked to "incentive pay", promotions based on "buddy system," less than adequate communications between the different groups in the company, modivation for arriving each day is declining, careful providing truthful answer to question as one may be listed as "not a team player" or "disgruntled,"
