The department heads and executives are stuck in their ways and are not the kind of people you want to deal with in a professional or personal setting. Decisions take forever to finalize because someone is always giving in unsolicited input/opinion or slowing down the process when they should not be involved to begin with. The department heads have very passive aggressive - or straight aggressive personality and overtime it becomes detrimental to have to communicate with these beings. The HR department is unreliable, toxic, gossips, and is not there for you. Please avoid this NY firm.

Everyone was malicious and no matter how well I did my job, it was always at risk. They actually hate you more when your building residents like you. They just want you to promote their preferred vendors so they can get paid under the table, so when you pick the more reasonable vendor bc youre looking out for the building's budget, they hate you for this too. Achievements always go unnoticed unless youre kissing the higher ups a**es. The politics are next level - it's paralyzing. Watch your back at all times. Don't trust anyone. Stay quiet, do your work, look for another job, and get out before they fire you. Do not apply here, it's truly an awful work environment.

Pros

Receiving a personalized text message on a Saturday from President Michael Mendillo was a wonderful surprise. It also set the tone for what was to follow. First Service Residential is an amazing place to work! Recently, I joined First Service Residential as a Community Manager. My experience has been amazing. The value that FSR places on its employees is wonderful. The training is excellent. Both my Supervisors treat me with respect and value my opinion. They have both been terrific. Another important issue to me is my career path. There is upward mobility at FSR in a variety of areas. My Supervisors are VERY supportive. The corporate culture pushes its employees to excel and achieve! I find FSR to be very diverse and inclusive. In my group, everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions. Culturally, we are diverse in - race, age, ethnicity, religion, etc. Having different perspectives that we can share is wonderful. Administratively, FSR has systems in place (such as a 24 hour Call Center. Questions about maintenance bills, work orders, etc. are handled by the Call Center. This leaves the manager to deal with more pressing issues. I am a part of NJ High Rise Team. We have weekly meetings for 45 minutes. This keeps the team involved and informed in what is going on within our area and with FRS Upper Management. I find these meeting very helpful. Salaries at FSR are excellent. Benefits are good - medical and dental. There is a pension plan. All in all, FSR is a wonderful place to work. I highly recommend it.
