Pros

I worked with some amazing people at Fischer Homes. If you work hard and are a considerate person, you'll receive recognition for your hardwork which is something that cannot be said about most employers. There are many opportunities within the company, but it does take time to achieve them. Tim McMahon (COO) is one of the most approachable people I've ever had the pleasure to work with.

Cons

The downside is benefits and pay. Yes, employees are expensive, but you need to be aggressive when it comes to keeping your rockstar talent and bringing talent onboard. Why should it take six months to receive a day of vacation? Treat your employees like the adults that they are and give them more vacation time without having to wait a year to get it.

Pros

Open communications where Associates can ask the Pres of the company any question they need answered about the company. Others in the room have an opportunity to take action to make positive change on the question or suggestion. Drive to accomplish tasks. When one division/department needs support, others provide support to drive out delays and rework. Opportunity for each Associate to define their career path. If your limited by growth advancement in one area, thee are other areas you can look into. Associates can set personal goals to obtain knowledge and skills as well as goals impacting ROI. Plans and Communities are beautiful and our Associates take great pride in driving the continued improvement in the designs and execution. We are not perfect, but I honestly believe that Associates come to work to find ways to improve processes and make their jobs more rewarding. They also smile and kid around with one another.

Cons

Opportunities to improve relationships with Regional offices via Corporate roles. This challenge exists in many companies and we need to do a better job bringing all remote teams in as equals.

Pros

Fischer Homes is a company that offers many opportunities within the same company. From Construction Management, Accounting, Information Systems, Land Development to Architecture and Estimating. Plenty of opportunities for growth and change while keeping with the same company.

Cons

You can get mired down in the day-to-day production orientated workload. Opportunities are available, but you have to seek them out yourself.
