Pros

Steady growth in company's bottom line, er.....until 2010 Fellow staff members are good people. Misery loves compnay and there are great happy hour conversations!

Cons

The CIO and VP's under him are some of the worst of the worst. Programmers have been 'notified' that their jobs are going away, due to a gee whiz new tool. Information, including budgets, is scarce. The level of arrogance of the Senior IT leadership is at a classic level.

Pros

I was hired on with the understanding that my department was a great place to learn about the company and move up.

Cons

There has been a pay freeze since April 2009 and it will continue until at least October 2010. Unless you're the CEO, then you get a 7% raise this year. The pay freeze for the rest of us includes promotions, so no one is motivated to work hard because you just get more work with no pay increase. Because of this, the best and brightest are leaving and we are losing a vast amount of knowledge along with them. I really feel like this company is rotting from the core.

Pros

Salary and benefits are decent. Focus on acquiring top talent ensures you will be working with some of the brighter minds in the business, assuming you are interviewing for a site that has that background. With the SOA transition in full effect, you will likely learn some good new skills that will carry you well into the future.

Cons

Extremely $$$ focused. To the point of employee morale degradation in a couple of key areas: 1) lack of pay raises for the past 18 months and 2) large focus on off-shore development "capability". "Capability" is quoted because they are basically getting less than what they are paying for, and on-shore associates are paying the cost of arduously trying to grow the skills of the off-shore crew, with limited to no visible effect.
