Pros

The best thing about working at Five Below is the team you get to work with, at least in my experience. They're there for you through the highs and lows. Also, fun happy hours, even virtually, and lots of free stuff.

Cons

Executive Leadership is all about how much money is made and how quickly we can scale. Because of this, employees are often an after thought. There are very few development opportunities. Employees are extremely overworked and extremely underpaid.

Pros

Honestly, I felt respected right up until my last day, when- (see cons)

Cons

They didn’t tell me the “season” at the Crossroads Cary, NC location ended 3 weeks before “mid-January”, which is when I was told the season was ending upon signing up for a seasonal role. The store manager “Rubi” asked me three days before I was let go to just “let them know if I intended to stay on during the semester, or not”, to which I immediately and emphatically said that I absolutely intended and wanted to stay on. Three days later, I was told that that day was my last day- given zero days notice that my job was gone three weeks prior to the standard “end of season” date that was agreed upon. I was told it was a “company-wide” policy because if they give any notice to employees at all, then the employees will come in and just slack off until their last day. I was told that at Five Below, they really take care of their people- That behavior is what a total lack of regard towards part time employees looks like. If they were taking care of me, they would’ve given me time to find a job, and they wouldn’t have made misleading statements to keep me hanging in limbo literally hours before (Sunday) the schedule for the following week was released (Monday), that I wasn’t on, which I noticed on Wednesday- and they wouldn’t tell me why I wasn’t given any shifts until my shift on Thursday.
