Pros

Fun working environment- coworkers are awesome

Cons

Management keeps hiring but people who have been there for 1 yr plus can't get enough hours. It's ridiculous.

Thanks for taking the time to provide constructive feedback to us. We're happy to hear that you enjoy your co-workers - we work hard to hire talent that aligns with our culture. We do recognize the importance of promoting from within, and will continue to work on making that a focus.

General Manager

Pros

Easy concept Low amount of prep compared to other concepts. Secret shop program is great! Secret shop program and customer surveys can really help drill down where your lack of service is and fix them. Great standards. Food safety program is world class, but challenging if you don’t like to be challenged probably not for you.

Cons

When I started in 2015 Five Guys was a great place to work. But has started to decline over the past couple years. Mainly due to constantly increasing focus on productivity. Labor budgets can be really constrained, leaving management not much time to complete the necessary management tasks. Did not receive a review in 2 years due to having 7 different district managers/ general managers with a title of district manager in training but without the actual title in this time period. Newly promoted area manager has no value for his people and thinks that firing everyone is the way to get things done and “coaching” is not in his vocabulary. For me I loved being a general manager for five guys and had a lot of success as one turning around profits, secret shop scores, and steritech scores. Ultimately I had to quit a boss not a company.

Pros

It is a good product.

Cons

Expected to be available 7 days a week 365 days a year. Not what I agreed to when I signed my offer letter.
