Pros

- Free food - Great people

Cons

- Poor management - Understaffed as people have been leaving and no interest in filling the roles (not that anyone should join at this stage) - Shut down when asked for budget to go to conference - Travel policy for interoffice work is great on paper, but then you have to argue for them to actually respect it - Userbase dwindling and poor product experience - Underpaid - offered substantial raise after deciding to leave

Pros

Free lunches and snacks are nice.

Cons

Employees don't matter to upper management. The new surge of executive hiring has slowed the company down even further and highly increased its costs. People leaving left and right. Roles aren’t backfilled leaving the employees still there overworked and underplayed. Emphasis on executive happiness only. Open and honest communication frowned upon. Rampant nepotism. Inconsistent policies. Overall lack of interest in its employees. Emphasis on optics instead of results.

We are sorry to hear that this was your experience and we take this feedback seriously. We’ve doubled down on our internal communication touchpoints so that we can hear these ideas and concerns earlier in the process and anyone on the team feels they can give feedback to managers or company leaders. We love working at Flipboard because of the team and the people we surround ourselves with. It’s important that we are listening and we appreciate your feedback.

Pros

-People here are very nice and open to talking to you, and many team members are brilliant -Unlimited vacation days (and you really can take vacations when you want, if you need it) -Really fun, beautiful product that's tackling a lot of things (journalism, finding the best stories) -Historically one of the first apps ever to hit the iPad market, and still maintains a lot of brand presence -People think you're cool when you tell them you work at Flipboard, and there's a huge user base

Cons

-Very few opportunities for advancement. There's no internal structure for proper promotions or evaluating your performance (so no opportunities to review your work or ask for a promotion) -Lack of guidance for managers across the board. Company is still in a mindset of being a smaller startup than it actually is. -HR is not friendly or welcoming. Not the type you automatically want to go to for help when there's a problem -A lot of focus on keeping the product the same instead of innovating it over time to meet customer needs. The team operates on what feels like random intuition, instead of checking and testing with users or incorporating feedback -The product tackles too much right now. They're adding more and more features to it like a Christmas tree, instead of paring it down to the essentials. As a result, I'm not convinced the product is something people will automatically look at everyday
