      Depends on what lab you are in

      Pros

      Generally helpful and friendly colleagues. Tallahassee has a small town feel. And now thanks to Obamacare Postdocs get health insurance.

      Cons

      Doesn't pay well. Also, very few employment opportunities at FSU or in Tallahassee after a Postdoc. (Most jobs want a bachelor's degree.)

      Pros

      OUM is hands down the best place to learn to be a designer at Florida State. You will learn all of the practical things that they overlook in class. Plus the leadership is incredibly talented and invests heavily in your success.

      Cons

      Some of the clients get a bit repetitive, and some projects are a pretty restricting.

      A lot of freedom as long as your department allows it. Some weeks work is low and you're allowed to just hold office hours.

      Cons

      There are no benefits or long contracts.
