Pros

The work environment of the union is really good environment that they foster. The hours a great considering this is a student job. The union provides an end of the year banquet for all its employees. You get almost all the major school vacations off( I have heard this might change however). The management is extremely approachable with an open door policy.

Cons

For the most part almost none, however some times you might see some university politics play out with different managers. Due to the fact this was a part time job don't expect more than minimum wage, but this is job a great first job for alot of students.

Pros

Nice environment, relatively good pay for graduate students, surrounded by intelligent people, university has your back when dealing with undergrads.

Cons

As a graduate student, you are relatively expendable. The culture varies greatly by department, but the bureaucracy is invariant. Coming in, there's a song and dance about what a loving family the department is, but at the end of the day it's a job. After signing on the dotted line, be prepared to deal with funding issues.

Pros

The physics department at FSU is very supportive and wants all of their students to do well. It is not an academically competitive culture with students vying to be top of the class, instead collaboration is encouraged and almost necessary to succeed in classes. There is a wide variety of research opportunities for physics students with a linear accelerator on campus, the National High Magnetic Field Lab a few miles away, a high energy group with strong ties to CERN, and a lot more.

Cons

The controversial new hiring of FSUs president puts the schools future ranking trajectory in question. While the Stipend is sufficient for the cost of living in Tallahassee, tuition fees take a substantial chunk.
