      A Family Run Business Masquarading as a Corporate Envionment

      Pros

      Free food and preferential treatment if you are the same faith as the employer. a $500 healthcare plan. Near the F line in Brooklyn. Some friendly coworkers. A good challenging environment where you could be expected to respond to e-mails late at night.

      Cons

      There are only 3 negative things to point out working here. The communication could be improved as IT will seldom look at tickets and just close them at will and is not effectively rolled out as many employees do not use it. Management only speaks in superlatives and refuses to engage in discussion in clarifying and continuing projects. The second issue would be the absolute lack of structure, for example, many large purchasing decisions are up to the whim of management and not well thought out and dealing with basic problems like product that has not moved in months or what to do in the event of a Buyer leaving. This leaves Buyers with large messes they had nothing to do with that WILL be used against them on performance reviews. The last thing I would like to point out is the discrimination against people not of the faith, race, or socioeconomic group. The condescending attitude towards some people as well as derogatory language is confusing and unnecessary. Even those who have been there for years and work closely with management have their opinions discounted and at the same time chastised for not giving them.

We have signed up for a Diversity and Inclusion training so that we can ensure that ALL employees feel comfortable working at Focus Camera. Employees are never expected to work after-hours and we do not require employees to have access to their emails once they leave the office. We have hired new staff to join our IT team and have seen tremendous improvement in project communication and completion. We're sorry that you're not here to see it, as we're sure you'd be proud!

      Pros

      Fridays are half a day and you will have long weekends. (9 hours a day Monday to Thursday- 4 hours Friday)

      Cons

      1. Extremely unprofessional environment. 2. They say that they offer Health Care. But what they don't tell you is their cheapest option with a huge deductible and very low benefits will cost YOU $450 to $500 a month. With their pay rate, you cannot afford to have even that least and not good insurance that they offer. 2. CEO yells and humiliates the employees in front of others for no reason. 3. Your complaints are not going anywhere. If you report harassment they will not do anything about it. 4. Your paycheck will have so many "accidental" issues. You literally have to go to HR and tell them that they counted your hours wrong, or they changed your rate or even did not send your paycheck at all. Note: If you have to work there pay close attention to your paycheck. It will never be right. and keep in mind to read their handbook carefully. 5. You have to stay for Over Time whenever they ask you to do and keep that mind that you don't get paid for the first 3 hours of your overtime. (They stated that in the handbook but if you don't read your handbook carefully you will lose time. (They usually don't ask you to stay longer than 3 hours.) So you usually will work 43 hours for the same paycheck. 6. If they promise you to increase your salary after a few months do not trust them. I personally know 3 cases with the same issue. (so make sure you are comfortable working with that salary that you have agreed upon hiring for a long time. ) 7. The management lies all the time so be smart and don't believe what you hear EVER. 8. I have never seen in my life that a company fires that many employees just after their high season is over. (There is no sense of moral and they will fire so many long term employees after the high season.

      Pros

      They sort of pay you I worked there for 6 months, six months too long.

      Cons

      Any positive review of Focus Camera is completely false and is written by Management or HR. There is nothing positive about working at Focus Camera. They cheat every single paycheck. They cheat you on Personal days. They berate and put you down if you don't jump when management barks at you. If you are Jewish they don't give you such a hard time.
