Pros

Great experience at all levels of the company. People are supportive of each other . Management has a pretty open door policy and they generally trust and expect you to be doing a good job. And they notice when you do.

Cons

Only 40 hours a week. There are times when I would like to stay a little later to get more work done.

Pros

Great industry and lots of new technology to learn.

Cons

I left Focus Camera few years ago after working for about five years. Most part of my experience have been reflected in the negative reviews. I also heard similar stories from people who worked there since 80's. it seems to me they grew on the business side, not on the human side. Not sure how it is now, when i was there, we(even non Jews) were not allowed to bring lunch during Passover. They used to send emails asking everyone to remove any food/snacks that is not Passover Kosher. I was one of the persons working late and witnessed someone actually going through everyone's drawer to discard snacks. Even if you are not a Jew, you have to abide by the Jewish law when you work there. Manager calls employees in his room for what he calls is a meeting. But only thing he does is yelling at them. He makes others feel small. I have seen so many hard working people (Jewish and non-Jewish) left getting tired of them. My negative review is NOT towards the Jewish people or religion, it is ONLY towards the "Father in law - Son in law" management who is not familiar with the word R E S P E C T.

New and exciting changes are constantly taking place at Focus Camera. As such, many things are not the same as they have been several years ago, and definitely not the same since the 80's.

Pros

I enjoyed the work as I was kept busy. The ONLY pro besides getting out early on Fridays.

Cons

Mainly all of the people working in the department that I was in DID NOT do their share of the work. If they did, they did it at a bare minimum and were quite rude and disgusting to the customers that they were "helping". You would think that would be acknowledged, but no. It must be okay to treat people this way. What a shame. If they're not doing their bare minimum work, they are playing around/shopping and those actually interested in doing the work end up doing those "workers" share of it. How juvenile and pathetic for a company that has been around for so many years. Nothing is done about this and will likely never change. The supervisor and upper management do nothing to better this issue. This is the right job for you if you have a crappy work ethic. The boss, is completely arrogant and condescending. He is rude to his workers and likes to embarrass them in front of other employees and even on the loud speaker. He will scream at you and treat you as if you are a child. If you are not RELIGIOUS Jewish, they do not care about you as a worker. You will be in and out of that revolving door of a job. I am leaving this review as the boss actually asked me to leave it after calling me a cockroach to my face, Could you imagine? They promise you things and they never follow through. The boss likes to put you down consistently and does not listen to his employees when you go to him with an issue. There should be some mandatory class for him to take to learn how to treat people and go about himself in a work environment. He thinks and treats his employees as if they are way below him. His class level is quite poor and his comments are ignorant and bully-like tactics. The benefits are awful. They change yearly and get worse as they change. They also get more expensive each time. So if you are making good money, you won't by the time your check is deposited in your account with the deduction for it. Why not look out for the best interest of your employees? Shame on you! A lot of the positive reviews are 100% fake. They, as other companies do, leave reviews for themselves everywhere. On their direct website, Amazon, google, facebook, etc. This company is very deceitful in its entirety. Watch out!!!
