Pros

The half days on Fridays.

Cons

Stay far away. This is a great example of a place that does not care about your health. They require their employees to come in the office everyday, fully staffed, while there is a pandemic, expect for the 2 times when the government closed everything down. They say they adhere to NYC Covid guidelines, but I'm pretty sure having the office fully staffed is not one of them, especially for a non-essential business. And with the benefits they offer, you will be spending a ton of money if you have it or a ton a money if you get sick cause you can't afford their lowest plan. Managers are no help and will throw you under the bus, the VP is extremely rude. Family owned company that does not treat their employees fairly. This is by far the worst office environment I've ever been in.

The health and safety of our staff is top priority at Focus Camera. Focus Camera adheres to all COVID-19 guidelines in accordance with city and state regulations. In the office everyone wears a mask and is socially distanced to the extent possible. As for working remotely we accommodate anyone that has a serious request or valid concern working in office and have employees working remotely when necessary.

Pros

Focus sometimes hires very smart young people who don't know better.

Cons

A terrible company that doesn't retain talent. Focus bullies employees into writing positive reviews everywhere from Google to Glassdoor. Every few years, someone shows up who thinks that can change the company culture. That person is usually fired, or they quit.

Focus Camera is proud of its many employees with a longstanding tenure of 10+ years, and even more so of the employees who've been with us for 20 years or more! We become part of one family over the years. We feel along when your family experiences hardship and rejoice with the happiness :) Focus may occasionally email a group of employees with a Glassdoor-generated email asking them to leave reviews and provide us with feedback. These emails are not tracked or monitored for response. Focus will never bully, offer incentives, or otherwise pressure anyone to leave a review.

Pros

Free food and preferential treatment if you are the same faith as the employer. a $500 healthcare plan. Near the F line in Brooklyn. Some friendly coworkers. A good challenging environment where you could be expected to respond to e-mails late at night.

Cons

There are only 3 negative things to point out working here. The communication could be improved as IT will seldom look at tickets and just close them at will and is not effectively rolled out as many employees do not use it. Management only speaks in superlatives and refuses to engage in discussion in clarifying and continuing projects. The second issue would be the absolute lack of structure, for example, many large purchasing decisions are up to the whim of management and not well thought out and dealing with basic problems like product that has not moved in months or what to do in the event of a Buyer leaving. This leaves Buyers with large messes they had nothing to do with that WILL be used against them on performance reviews. The last thing I would like to point out is the discrimination against people not of the faith, race, or socioeconomic group. The condescending attitude towards some people as well as derogatory language is confusing and unnecessary. Even those who have been there for years and work closely with management have their opinions discounted and at the same time chastised for not giving them.

We aim to treat all employees equally, and are sorry to hear that you felt otherwise. We have signed up for a Diversity and Inclusion training so that we can ensure that ALL employees feel comfortable working at Focus Camera. Employees are never expected to work after-hours and we do not require employees to have access to their emails once they leave the office. We have hired new staff to join our IT team and have seen tremendous improvement in project communication and completion. We're sorry that you're not here to see it, as we're sure you'd be proud!
