Pros

Ford-AV training is fantastic, and they'll teach you even if you're coming with very little experience. If you care to stick it out and put in the effort, you will have a place here for a long time.

Cons

Ford-AV shares a lot of resources between divisions, including employees. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it means employees are expected to travel very frequently for jobs. While traveling, installation crews are expected to share rooms; this means little privacy and the occasional uncomfortable situation. This may be a dealbreaker for some.

Pros

Ford is not a 5 star company, and it is not a 1 star company either. If you are completely new to AV, are single, and don't have a family or much of a social life, I can understand the appeal of this place. Most employees are nice and Ford aspires to be something good.

Cons

No formal training in control systems though you the service tech are supposed to know how to troubleshoot them. If you do get any kind of formal training here, it held over your head for the next year, and if you leave they make you pay for it. Outdated and incredibly convoluted system they have for clocking in and out. You not only have to "Clock-in", you have to fill out a detailed timesheet everyday of those hours you worked like it's 8th grade band class. All of this is done in a web interface that you first have to connect to via a VPN and then Two Factor authentication. Every. Time. It is an incredibly inefficient and a complete waste of time when you're in the field. Read the other reviews on micro management. They are mostly accurate. The amount of hoops you need to jump through just to get something done is tiresome. You will spend most of your first year here just learning their policies. No company vehicle that you can take home. And if you do drive one, it's almost not worth it given how micromanaged your driving is. Compensation is poor. You're better off getting the experience here
