larger company-opportunities to move into different areas of business/exposure to globally operations. They are changing many of their business practices to global processes, it is exciting and a good experience being able to input and influence the company during these exciting times. Many jobs offer the opportunity to travel and see/experience different parts of the country/world.
Cons
Shrinking market share in a shrinking industry- lots of job reductions lately. Limited annual salary increases (~3-5%, with 0% some years due to industry struggles). Recently cancelled tuition reimbursement. Metro-Detroit isn't just an OK area relative to other major cities. Some chimney's between different organizations still exist, much better that it was 5-10 years ago. Some of the skills and experiences are automotive specific and may not be transferable outside the industry. Seems to be a lot of layers of middle management. Potential of off-shoring some the current positions.
