Pros

- Global brand recognition as a leading research and advisory firm. - Working amongst smart, collaborative people.

Cons

Low compensation: For most roles, the base salary and overall compensation is below market value. If you’re in a sales role, your quota will continue to increase yearly without much of an adjustment to your salary + OTE. They will continue to ask more from you, expect you to achieve lofty quotas and unrealistic weekly metrics, and never give you a raise. Toxic sales leadership: The sales leaders have been here for years, so for most of them working at Forrester is all they know. They are completely out of touch, constantly micromanaging, demanding in communication, and do not care about you as a person – you’re literally treated as a number in their forecast. Not much career development: Unless you want to spend years working in the same role and hardly ever getting a pay raise, this isn’t a company where you want to grow your career. It’s a stable job, but there isn’t much upward trajectory, path for promotion, or internal mobility. The colleagues I’ve seen receive promotions or shift departments have been with those who have worked at Forrester for 5-10+ years. There are plenty of other job opportunities that would value your background and skills more than they do here. Terrible work/life balance - Leaders who disrespect boundaries: We’re finally offering unlimited PTO. However, don’t be alarmed if your manager or director messages/calls you while you’re on PTO. They seriously do not care if you’re on (medical, maternity, paternal, etc.) leave or on vacation, they will still contact you. This company and job is never going to be urgent enough to disrespect boundaries while you’re out of office. There are so many employees who are burnt out working here. If you want to reduce turnover, then you need to respect work/life balance. Lack of diversity: Majority white company – there is hardly any diversity of race, ethnic background, LGBTQIA+ representation, etc. here.

Great people, poor pay, abysmal leadership

Pros

The people are genuinely great. They're compassionate, smart, and hard-working. Love working with them. The work-life balance is also quite good for the industry.

Cons

Compensation is laughably low for the industry, even taking the lower-intensity environment into account. Promotions follow little rhyme or reason and often feel timed for office politics instead of merit. Perks are almost non-existent. D&I is laughably behind where it should be, in large part due to lack of understanding of what is important to new hires and low pay. The highest levels of leadership are at the mercy of the CEO, who at best provides benign neglect and at worst makes decisions around massive issues like company direction and flex work solely on his whims and orders others to backfill reasoning. If you are a regular employee and ask very reasonable questions about why poor financial performance isn't leading to a reckoning for executives on stock buybacks and new direction, or why Forrester is taking away one of its biggest perks its own research asserts is great, you will either be ignored, brushed off with platitudes, or have your career suffer as a result.

Pros

My team and my immediate manager are fantastic and do their best to clean up the mess left by senior management and the executive team.

Cons

When I interviewed for Forrester over a year ago, 'Anywhere Work' and the company culture was the main selling point. There was a companywide understanding that business decisions are based off research and internal employee surveys, and all these decisions will be made transparently and respectfully. The handling of decisions over the last two weeks have left a sour taste in my mouth- layoffs were announced, along with no annual pay increase, promotion pause and forced in-office presence. The executive team offered us a grand total of 10 minutes of question time in our company meeting today. There has been no further communication on how employee questions are going to be answered (and there is a lot of them), and it feels like employees have been left to drown. Despite demanding transparency from us, the executive team have refused to outline the actual data that has led to these decisions (not just quoting 'our internal survey said..."- show us the ACTUAL data!). What kind of research company is this? The employees in this company have dedicated their lives to data and academic transparency. Why can't our executive team and CEO do the same?
