Worn out and on way out

Pros

The technology and vision are excellent. The company is financially stable and the benefits are good.

Cons

My experience is that cronyism and favoritism are key to your success here just like being in the right clique in high school. Working hard, making your number, and going the extra mile to help the team make its number does not seem to be a good reason to be treated well. In addition, I'm fielding increased customer complaints due to support and quality issues so be prepared to front-end those as well as dealing with the moving quota targets as described by other reviews. The compensation and benefits are great if you're one of the "lucky" ones but you can be starved to death if you're not. In addition, it is my opinion that the latest sales compensation plan changes are not to my benefit.

Pros

You will be successful if you comfortable working in a Chinese management style company. Typical salary and benefits for industry and Bay Area.

Cons

Cheap/frugal on expenses. If you are an acquired company, expect your tenure to last 12 -18 months max, especially if you are a manager or above. Limited internal promotion movement. Lots of senior management turnover.

Pros

Fortinet has some very good products. The pay is in the mid to upper levels, and the benefits were excellent. The new HQ looks nice and is pleasant to work in.

Cons

There's a huge problem with both cronyism AND nepotism, where many of the people hired are neither qualified nor capable. There's everything from previous models to reality show contestants to shoe salespeople handed responsibility for things they know nothing about. The qualified senior managers last about 6-9 months and then leave. Most cite the CEO's difficult nature and lack of business sense as the reason. Many senior executives who do stay with the company are there, because of their expert ability to flatter and say yes to the CEO.
