The wider organisation does not demonstrate the same level of value for its employees. Senior leadership holds little influence when it comes to addressing staff needs and often cannot (or do not) advocate effectively on behalf of their teams.
The culture is resistant to feedback, improvement, and meaningful change. Management does not empower or value the expertise of their team. As a result, staff frequently experience burnout due to chronic understaffing, driven by poor recruitment and retention.
Compensation is similarly uncompetitive: pay increases are minimal, there are no bonuses, no enhanced maternity pay, a weak pension scheme, no overtime pay and very limited opportunities for promotion. Even when progression does occur, the financial uplift is minimal.
