Pros

Decent work/life balance at the very least (except during busy season, and then you will not have a second free for yourself)

Cons

-No training and development - management does not care about your growth, and there are no real promotions for the operational business groups, just professionals -Not a good workplace for women - women tend to bully other women, and the men bully both men and women -Toxic teams, resentment, pettiness -Cliques are terrible -No cohesive organizational culture -Workplace politics gets in the way of doing your job -There is so much dysfunction, I've heard people screaming at each other -No respect or support for people who are trying to learn and grow at the lower levels - if you are at a lower level, DO NOT COME HERE, there is no growth -They are so cheap they don't have people come clean frequently, so the office is dusty and gross You can find a job elsewhere.

Tax Department- Long Island

Pros

The office is new and beautiful.

Cons

Firm has no vision. Sweatshop mentality (tax season all year). Turnover is extremely high. Human resources enables an unhealthy work environment. Certain partners project blame on staff for firm failures and deflect responsibility while working as little as possible. The mindset is, quantity over quality, as long as the return is out the door it doesn't matter how incorrect it is. Avoid the tax department at all costs- no paycheck is worth the amount of stress and lack of respect you will receive while working in such a hostile environment.

Pros

Remote work but this was the only "Pro".

Cons

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my entire career. My manager was abusive, accusatory and unprofessional. Most questions went unanswered. My day to day was heavily controlled and extremely micromanaged. The job that I was hired for was not the job that I was doing at all, and it undermined the possibility of being able to advance my career path. The systems are outdated and inefficient with no room for career development. Employees are discarded when they feel your frustration, actually speaking untruths about your performance. No exit interview to learn about the treatment you experienced. No discussion, you're gone. The messages from high level management team does not reflect the culture.
