We’re so happy to hear that you appreciate the flexibility, growth opportunities, and the energetic environment at FOSS! It’s great to know that you’re finding the work rewarding and are seeing measurable progress in your role. We agree—it’s definitely a high-energy job, but the impact it has on our students makes it all worth it! We also appreciate your feedback on the effects of the heated, chlorinated water. We understand that extra skin and hair care is important, and we encourage you to lean on your managers for any support or tips they can provide. We have resources available to help you care for yourself, and we want to ensure that you feel your best while doing such impactful work. We’re truly grateful to have you on our team and appreciate all the dedication you bring to your role!

Pros

The management team takes time to get to know you. They are extremely flexible with scheduling so you can work exactly how much you want. Everyone is extremely friendly and it is pretty easy to get shifts covered.

Cons

If you dislike swimming or getting your hair wet this is not the job for you. Class sizes can be big which can be overwhelming as a new teacher, but there are support systems in place to help

We’re thrilled to hear that you value the flexibility, friendly environment, and the support provided by our management team. Creating a space where our instructors feel heard and have the opportunity to thrive is so important to us. We understand that teaching can be overwhelming at first, especially with larger class sizes. While our classes consist of 1-4 students per teacher, we recognize that smaller groups might feel more manageable for new instructors as they gain experience. Your feedback is helpful, and we’re always open to ways we can improve the experience for our team. We appreciate you being a part of FOSS and look forward to continuing to support you in your role!

Pros

- Friendly and encouraging work environment - Fair pay and yearly opportunity for a raise - Lots of training opportunities available - Everyone is friendly. There isn't one person I don't get along with. - You can actually choose your own availability. If you say you can't work that day, they won't make you. You choose. - Picking up somebody's shift is $1 more per hour, and weekends are something like $2 more per hour which is nice.

Cons

- Can be stressful and you do not get breaks between classes. - While help is usually available for your classes if needed, this is not always the case. - Finding a sub if you are sick can be chaotic. You need to reach out to your manager at least 4 hours before your shift and let them know, and finding someone to take your shift is sometimes impossible. If you don't find a sub, you must be there. - If you are anything like I am, you're going to get sick ALL the time. The flu, laryngitis, pink eye, notorious, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We love hearing that you enjoy the friendly and encouraging environment, flexibility in scheduling, and opportunities for growth. It’s important to us that our team feels supported and valued, so we’re glad to know these aspects are making a positive impact. We also appreciate your feedback on coverage for sick days. We understand that finding a sub can sometimes be stressful, and we encourage our team to lean on managers for extra support, as well as our sub-only instructors who are available to help. Your insight is valuable, and we’re always looking for ways to improve the process to make it easier for our team. Thanks for being a part of FOSS!
