Pros

- The culture here is great. It's built around how we treat one another, and you can see how supportive everyone is towards one another. Part of being part of a company who's mission is about saving human lives is that the people Freenome attracts end up caring more about each other. How can you care about saving a stranger's life if you don't care about your employees around you? - Engineers are put on important projects and have a clear impact on the company. Even though we are here to help cure cancer, I have felt that my career growth has also been prioritized and have been given a lot of responsibility. - Even if you are not working on the computational biology team, you still get exposed and learn a lot about the biology and science behind the product. We have weekly science updates and the science teams are more than happy to talk about their work. It's been great to grow in my engineering skills as well as learn about the science aspect. - Many employees are involved in side projects about improving our culture like serving and giving back to the community, diversity and inclusion efforts, etc. Engineers are not expected to spend their time only on software engineering, but are able to spend some of their time improving the cultural aspect as well.

Cons

- One of the struggles on Engineering recently is that we have a lot of smaller teams, and it is not as easy as it once was to know what's going on in engineering as a whole. - Sometimes science updates are too fast and it is hard to understand all of the acronyms and terms without background knowledge.
