Pros

Large capital base Profitable Papua mines where gold is produced as a by product and the production cost is nullified into profit. Lucky to have few excellent resources strategically located world wide minimising the risks Excellent CFO, Chairman, CEO and the board

Cons

Top management is consisted of mostly people who worked together in PTFI Indonesia. So birds of same feather. Prejudicial relationship because some of the top executives worked together outside Freeport as well as they worked together in Papua No framework of performance management - all whims and fancies. You need to have a God Father Professional management is just missing from the people who are just below the Board Lack of transparency Incomeptent admin officers and clerks are promoted in decision making levels so as to support their managers at all times without any threat .

Pros

Good pay, great benefits, cheap town

Cons

Upper management uses the good old buddy system for hiring... managers have no higher education, there are no plans for people with degrees

Pros

If you know some one at VP/ President /Director level and form a clique - you always will be looked after even after failing to perform. You need to be part of the closed circle and not necessarily to deliver. Smart Executive Management Staff and Board and knowledgeable covering the lack of knowledge of the rest of the team. Excellent Board , Presidents and CEO

Cons

There is never a set KPI to measure the performance of employees given to measure at the start of the year. Performances are measured very subjective, judgmental and unprofessional. HR policies are dated , often hidden agenda, secreted and tacit arrangement used for conveniences. If you do not have any God Father or person who knows you, no matter how smart you are - sorry. Very unreasonable HR, Senior Management with no respect to company policies or treating people with respect. Vendor selection is also done on subjectivity and failed vendors /consultants get repeat orders. DON'T TRUST on verbal promises from Recruiter, HR or even your Hiring Manager. Selective memory. Contractors /Consultants are rewarded highly than own staff. They sack the smart staff to replace with mediocre yes man contractors to have least resistance in execution.
