Pros

This company has great medical, dental and vision insurance. There's a 401k with 5% company match. It's a smaller mine than the others.

Cons

Management consists of guys who play golf together, drink together or belong to the same church. If you're a woman, you can just forget about being a boss. Don't expect any raises if you're in operations. Raises usually go to mechanics and electricians. I was told once by an upper management guy that haul truck drivers are a dime a dozen. Plus, they know you can't go anywhere else and make the money you make there without having to pick up and move your whole family somewhere else.

Pros

Good pay Good benefits Some opportunity to develop professional skills Good people working on the ground Great place to learn workplace politics and management dynamics If you like the mining industry this might be a good place for you

Cons

Locations are often remote and can include a lot of driving Schedules are very challenging Management can be overly political Make sure you go in with a degree that directly relates to your career goal because if you don't have one, you'll never get to where you want to go
