Pros

Fun and creative place to work

Cons

Management is distanced and does not empower line level employees. Historical business decisions to understaff and over work employees. Tone at the top is questionable.

Lacking Leadership

Pros

Huge employee discount. Healthcare benefits are pretty decent. Easy reverse commute. Week off over Christmas. Fun product offering. Office toys - slides, bowling alley, video games.

Cons

I just took a big sigh and thought, "where do I start?" I want this review to be helpful and fair. My biggest concern with my employment was the lack of experienced leadership. The majority of leaders at Funko have very little experience leading teams or inspiring others as many of them have grown their careers at Funko. Goal setting and performance reviews are viewed as a formality rather than a tool to develop employees. I found leaders to be unapproachable, uninspiring, and uninterested in their employees' futures. When interviewing with Funko, I would ask about attrition and why so many are leaving Funko. Recently, the widely admired VP and Director of Human Resources left without other opportunities lined up. I believe this action speaks volumes on the current state of affairs. There is currently no senior leader for Human Resources. I would also ask about training and onboarding. Very few departments have any formalized or developed training plans. As for COVID accommodations, it was difficult for Funko to transition to work from home. The company culture doesn't value working from home. There are currently people forced to work in the warehouse offices because they don't believe they will do their work unless directly supervised even though their job functions can be completed from home.
