Pros

- The unlimited holiday is a big bonus - There are some nice people that work here - The offices are pleasant (if a little souless) - Good brands

Cons

- Pay is poor - Company culture is lacking. - Workplace is depressing - everyone seems miserable - Lack of benefits and perks such as extended parental leave, life assurance, etc. - They don't value experience, replacing long serving editors with graduates - Redundancies and cost cutting while the ELT boast about how many millions the company is making - Forced three days a week in the office is totally unnecessary - No focus on inclusion and diversity - Central functions massively overworked

Pros

None - you’ll either love it or hate it

Cons

Company is run in an autocratic way - Zillah needs to control every little decision - management have no autonomy to decide anything If your face doesn’t fit or you complain about something you will “leave” the business Unlimited holiday is great in theory but the cost is the expectation that when you are working you are available 24/7 Little regard for workload, well-being or work/life balance Acquisition-minded means you are just a number - there is zero culture The amount of people who leave is incredible!

Pros

You can work on some fantastic publishing brands, training and ability to up-skill in different areas is present, bonus scheme is good providing you bring in 7x your annual salary (minimum per year). Cycle to work scheme. A few really nice & genuine people work there.

Cons

Most upper management are robotic, cowardly, ignorant and do not listen to staff who have far more experience in the actual day to day running of the business. I was told repeatedly in 121 meetings that if my sales figures did not improve I would likely be sacked (despite a challenging period for everyone). Fear is imposed from upper-management which results in middle management micro-managing and un-trusting staff. Forced to return to the office on rigid days even when it wasn't necessary. No culture, no personality and poor relationship with ad agencies.
