Where did the company I loved go?????

Pros

Coworkers are nice to work with.

Cons

For many years I would say GAF was a good company to work for based on your managers treatment. This is the first time I can honestly say look elsewhere. This year alone they continuously show they lack of any care for employees. They continuously take away “perks” we once had. We are currently hybrid, which many appreciate after working long hours during COVID. You can’t start by saying how well we did remote and then state we “need” to be in the office everyday. This clearly shows upper management has no care for employee work life balance. Not to mention increasing work hours and taking away a floater day. They don’t want to do more layoffs and the writing is on the wall they want people to leave but once they do and we need new employees….how will they hire good ones when the company clearly is not offering anything good to make people want to join GAF. I once really loved working here. Now I go in and I am saddened by the fact they push how employees matter but do the opposite. Actions speak louder than words. Also, we will all be making less money as we have to go into the office more often (gas, childcare…etc.) What happened to employees matter????

Pros

Excellent collaborative environment. End users/clients were a pleasure to support.

Cons

I was a sub-contractor. I was doing very well there. No major errors on my part. I did all good work and documented all that I could of procedures I had to figure out for myself since my predecessors did not document anything. I got systems working correctly that hadn't been right in years. What did this get me? Well, the pay was pretty good. Other than that, no loyalty. I worked on the Friday before the 4th of July holiday weekend. It was a very productive day like most days for me. I left the office at 5:00 PM, my regular time, saying have a nice weekend on the way out. At 6:40 PM that same evening I got a message from my sub-contracting company saying my contract ended. No good or real explanation for this! THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE!

Forced 16 hr shifts.

Pros

Wage, start at $19, $22-23 hr after 90 days.

Cons

forced overtime including double shifts(16hr), basically if the next shift guy calls in or is late, you stay for that shift also, they will tell you this right before your shift is done. The entire break room and locker room hasnt been update in 40yrs, dirty, old. They expect you too work 12 on 2 off, expect you to work 12 to 16 hrs a day but then dont make the break room appealing, its very depressing to be there. High turn over. the offices have asbestos in the walls, 50 yr old trim.
