Pros

As a family-owned company, there are less layers and you can be recognized and rewarded for hard work and good results. They provide a good benefits package.

Cons

As with all companies nowadays, the mantra is "do more with less". There are a lot of people working harder than ever, without the help they need.

Pros

Fantastic opportunities to train cross-functionally, but don't expect to come from the outside and join the club. The dues to pay are high, the hours long and the fraternity is quite tight. They will value your outsider expertise but you will be trumped by dullwits who grew up with the family and have "do you remember when..." stories. Generally, people you work with are smart and passionate...

Cons

Drink the "wine" (kool-aide) in order to move up...you must live in Modesto, and you must have weekend things to do with the "work family" in order to be clued in for Monday. Lots of inside talk and chatty chatty, especially by those trying to impress VPs and GMs.
